Tiger Eyes
Renowned director of essayist documentaries Frank Scheffer has created the film Tiger Eyes especially for the 40th edition of the Film Festival Rotterdam. Portraits of international filmmakers who represent different aspects of the past four decades of the festival. The choice of these filmmakers was made by the former directors of the festival.

The film is a mosaic of depth interviews with filmmakers about the passion for their art. A passion that is often associated with a shrewd view on man and society. There are key scenes from their works and Frank Scheffer and cameraman Melle van Essen has represented the earliest inspiration of the different directors.

Portrayed: Raùl Ruiz (Chile), the legendary master of surrealist cinema; Jim Jarmusch (USA), whose second film Stranger Than Paradise seems to be the start of a glorious career; Wim Wenders (Germany), festival fan from the first hour and recently maker of a 3D documentary on Pina Bausch; Abbas Kiarostami, the internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker;  Michael Haneke (Austria), Festivalfocus of 1993 and Golden Palm winner with Das Weisse Band; Abderrahmane Sissako (Mauritania), festivalfocus of 2007 and creator of the leading Bamako; and Apitchatpong Weerasethakul (Thailand), Golden Palm winner with Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives and star of the Hubert Bals Fund.
